On my KLN-89/B I can set the waypoint and then put it in the OBS mode,
adjust the OBS and it acts just like a VOR. A couple of years ago I flew to Tucson and got that departure and that is how I set it up. But going over to departure they just cleared me on with out the entire climb. So, that RYN departure is only notan and not publish. Thats why I didnt have it. the tower controller had to read it to me. When I got the plane it had a defective ADF, no DME, and a VFR GPS. I traded the GPS for the IFR one and junked the ADF. Approaches still require ADF or DMEs.
