I dont think you need an ADF to get the altimeter setting. I have a Sony
radio that tunes 260 just fine. The altimeter setting could also be relayed
from another aircraft that has an ADF.

Even if an ADF was truly the only way to obtain the altimeter setting, it seems
a pretty high price to lower minimums by 160 feet.
