In that case you could not use this GPS for the DME part of a LOC/DME approach
unless the stepdown fixes were named intersections.

Since the Tri-Pacer pilot was considering getting an additional Garmin 430 to
replace the ADF/DME combo, he would be getting a duplicate of the current
database in his first Garmin 430.

I do not know of any LOC/DME procedure in the Garmin 430 database that does not
have the named intersections or LOC/DME waypoint as part of the procedure.
Older UPSAT products (GX50 and GX60 with software previous to 3.1) would not
have those LOC/DME waypoints.
