As always with IFR Pilots, you get much more out of the answers than you
originally asked! Thanks very much for the responses and insights. Ive decided to go with the 430 for a couple of reasons. The main stumbling block was removed yesterday when I was playing with the simulators for the GX-60 and the GNS-430. I was trying that departure that Id mentioned before and discovered the bearing indicator on the HSI in the 430 sim. Looks just like an ADF needle to me, except I dont need manually rotate the compass card (I usually did the math in my head, anyway). I dont have to keep cranking the obs on the KI209, so Im back to my low workload situation and happy as a clam. As an aside to Paul Sanchez, I wish it was a second 430, but at that point I think Id buy a 530. In a TriPacer?!?!? Looks like I have too much time on my hands ... time to go fly approaches. Thanks again, Rod Wagoner Tucson, AZ |
