One needs to never look at a compass or CDI again....take my word for it! One needs to only keep the projected track line on top of the desired track line on the moving map. > If what you are saying is that you only follow the CDI needle > and ignoring the heading, then I have to admit you have me with > that one. I dont think that he meant to follow the CDI, but rather to marry the desired track line with the projected track (the lubber line at the top of the pseudo-HSI. > I cant really picture not using the DG or HSI as > paramount for heading, since it is the least lag instrument for > that in the aircraft, and that includes any GPS source, since it > has loads of lag in track, being a trend instrument. Not really when viewed on a moving map display. Sounds as if your experience has been with "numbers only" panel mount GPSs. With "approach" selected, the Anywhere Map draws the final approach course on the map with the pseudo-HSI also shown. I just turn left or right until the "widdle-airplane" points straight down the approach course and then keep it there, wind is already accounted for. I really dont care what the heading is. BTW, my experience includes several years as a Part 121 FAA designated Navigation Check Airman for Doppler, Omega, and INS navigation systems. Bob Moore ATP ASMEL FI ASE-IA |
