Agree, but X-Plane itself had a very strong IFR sim focus in the past.
However, instead of the few remaining issues being addressed to make it an
IFR sim even more capable than Elite or the others, focus was shifted to
visuals. Forest fires, blowing snow over the runways and recently tire
smoke, jet exhaust, contrails, afterburner flames.
It seems kind of sad that in some cases old X-Plane Classic (v3.7) makes a
better IFR simulator than the latest X-Plane version. It had the potential
(still has IMO), but unfortunately the $39 sim market likes contrails much
better than an accurate weather model, or a round world model for accurate
navaid placements.
