>I flew into Nashua NH (ASH) for lunch today and I saw something I

I had just finished my run up when >I looked around and saw an World War II era aircraft painted in the >full Nazi paint job, including a Swastika on the tail. > >I was very offended and I have to say I was never happier to hear the >tower say the words, "Cleared for Takeoff" I just wanted to get as far >from that thing as I could. > >--Zach Kessin >Not a happy camper. > Well, Zach, I think that you are getting too emotional over symbols. True, at one time the symbols you are upset over stood very actively for true evil. But symbols are funny things. They arent inherently harmful and after the evil that they may have represented is put under control, then the symbols can be viewed in a more historical context. I have been touched personally in my life by the symbols that you are talking about. Now, however, I do not worry about the use of the symbols in an historical way. Only if they are reused to symbolize some old or equally noxious new evil (as in the case of the Aryan Nations) do I get concerned. Alice |
