Im with you. I dont mind leaning, and I know how to do it according
to the time and resources available to me in the cockpit. I also know
that a properly designed and implemented engine controller can do a
better job of it and do it continuously. Efficiency and economy are
good, excess workload and wasted fuel are bad. When fuel, engines, and
maintenance get expensive enough, we (operators) will happily absorb the
development costs of such an engine. Certain jet operators have been
doing it for years.
