Jim Sokoloff >AIG and USAIG are two different companies. Right. And it would be news to me if either one made an engine overhaul mandatory! There must have been a misunderstanding somewhere. Lycoming Service Instruction 1009J "mandates" overhaul at 2000 hours (most models) or 12 years (all models), whichever comes first. A good fraction of engines are well past calendar TBO, including this one (24 years). If the insurer actually did mandate overhaul, the calendar age may why. Itd be a good reason. - Rod |
