I had some engine roughness in a rented Cherokee last week coming home
from Bakersfield. I went back to Mercury Air and they recommended Dave at Professional A/C, just a few hangars to the north. Even though I was obviously just a family guy in a rented plane trying to get home, he treated me as if I were a professional pilot in a KingAir. Nothing was obviously wrong (we both suspect lead fouling in the plugs), but he cleaned all the plugs, checked both mags with a meter, and explained every single thing he was doing and why he thought it was important. The bill came to less than $100 for about an hour and a halfs inspection---paid, of course, by the FBO from which I rented the plane, but if it had been me paying I would have shelled it out gladly for the peace of mind. Plus, he just put in a fantastic epoxy floor and has the cleanest shop I have ever seen, bar none. BFL is a long way from home for me, but we visit often, and I would bring any aircraft problems to them before going anywhere else. |
