I was born and grew up in the Wichita Falls area, and first began my
private training at Kickapoo and then finished up at Wichita Valley
(http://www.redriverair.com) in a 1972 Cessna Skyhawk 172, N622E (pics
at http://www.nealhoward.net). Took my checkride on 14-AUG-2000 at
Kickapoo in N622E. Never could land smoothly at Kickapoo, but learned
how to grease em in on that skinny little, sloping-on-a-hill runway at
"The Valley". They say if you can learn to land at Wichita Valley, you
can land just about anywhere, but the only smooth landings Ive ever
made at Kickapoo was on the day of my checkride. :-) Funny thing is
that I can fly halfway across north Texas / southern Oklahoma to some
airport that Ive never ever seen before in my entire life, find the
place with no problem, and land smooth as silk.... but when I get back
over to Kickapoo, Ill bounce at least once :-/
