Well, Jay, the general idea is that a new drug is made available only by prescription until enough data is collected about the patients for the FDA to feel that it is safe. "Safe" simply means that very few people have dangerous reactions to the drug. Sudafed has done this; Allegra either has not or the manufacturer has not applied for approval to sell it over the counter. That said, your reaction is the opposite of normal for Sudafed. That stuff is a stimulant for most people. *Unless* you bought the special formula marketed "for allergies". I made that mistake once. If thats what you did, buy the regular Sudafed if this happens again. Dont buy a generic version (the brand Target markets is useless). Take only one pill. Take a second one an hour later if needed. The above is based on my experiences with the stuff. I dont have hay fever, but Im allergic to several plants (including grass), so I know what its like. George Patterson, N3162Q. |
