Subject:Prostititus: FAA Approved Sleep Aid?
From:Jim Fisher

Ive got prostititus.

For those that dont know, its a bacteriological infection of the prostate
causing it to swell. About the only symptom I have is painless but frequent
urination (painful urination is the norm for most folks).

Okay, got THAT outta the way.

Ive had this crap for about six weeks now. Have to get up and pee three or
four times a night. That sucks. Taking a antibiotic that should knock it
out sometime soon . . . I hope. In the meantime, lack of a good nights
sleep is starting to get to me. More of an emotional issue rather than
physical as Im not really tired during the day but it really pisses me off
(pun alert!) that I get up so often during the night.

I had this last year while I was a student pilot and was given some
medication that allowed me to sleep all night. I cant remember what the
medication was but I havent bothered to ask my doctor to prescribe it again
cause I know damn well it wont be the FAA approved (I remember one of the
side effects, though I didnt experience it, was dizziness. The FAA would
frown on that, Im sure). Its getting to the point where Im considering
grounding myself and taking the sleep medicine.

Before I do that, anyone out there had this problem and was prescribed
something that allowed you to sleep all night yet FAA approved?
