Actually, any weight loss usually lowers blood pressure; even a loss of ten
pounds can make quite a difference. If the BP is only mildly elevated, weight loss alone may permanently lower it to normal levels. Of course, one must take care to avoid ever becoming overweight again, which will only bring the hypertension back. "Matthew P.
