Nevertheless, gasoline doesnt explode. It doesnt even burn. Gasoline
vapor burns readily, but only if it is mixed with air at a ratio of
between 12:1 and 15:1 (air:gas). Bust open a gas tank and provide a source
of flame, and the vapor around the edges of the liquid will burn. The
mass will descend in a liquid trail to the ground and spread out there.
Shoot down a light aircraft over a city and youre likely to wind up
burning out a block or two of buildings. What you will _not_ get is a nice
neat aerial explosion and a little debris (unless you can somehow manage
to vaporize the contents of the fuel tanks).
