> I think the best part of the Lowrance is that it came with EVERYTHING -- > extra batteries, cigarette lighter adapter, mounting clamp -- the works. > As I recall, I would have had to buy most of that from Garmin, which really > added to the cost. How about "ALMOST everything!" When I got my Airmap 300 at the AOPA Convention last October, it had dead batteries and no way to charge the Ni-MH battery until we got back to the plane in two days hence. I had no way of learning how to use it before the trip home. What it was lacking is the AC adapter. The next day at the show, the kind folks at Lowrance gave me fresh batteries and I found an AC adapter at another vendor. The AC adapter lets me do a lot of flight planning on the GPS at the house with bearings and distances. It also lets me charge the battery pack before flying. (Some of the rentals at our FBO do not have the cigarette adapter connected.) But like the man from Lowrance said, the AC adapter does not fit in the case. Jerry Malin N82045 |
