I have a JRC JHP-500 comm only which is the only radio I used on a recent
cross country (MN to TX) with acceptable results. I hooked it up to an external antenna and a portable intercom. Had some problems with reception and transmission over 5 miles out. Only one airports Unicom said they didnt hear us making the calls for landing. It makes for a good backup. It will be a backup radio once I decide which radio to install in my plane.
