Lets not get reporting confused with opinion---I was just tallying up the
opinions others had expressed in the thread.

I havent actually expressed an opinion on the subject other than the final
opinion that, based on the data/opinion available, the best bang for the
buck appeard to come from the JRC JHP-500, whatever batteries go into it.

Heres my opinion about batteries:

Im a big fan of NIMH. I use the all-green ones from the Real Goods catalog
and recharge with a ReSource Battery Xtender. NIMH batteries drive my
handheld GPS, ANR headset, and many toy trains in our house. I cant stand
NiCads, though, the memory effect is a pain. I dont want to think that
much about batteries.

What does bother me is the slightly lower voltage with both NiCad and
NIMH---1.3v for a AA instead of 1.5 for an alkaline, if I remember
correctly. This makes them appear to not last as long in devices that need
the extra voltage. For those I generally use AccuCharge rechargeable
alkalines, which tend to work really well with that charger---I get at least
10 full-capacity charges before they start declining.
