The King cannot monitor a second frequency. I have the SL40 and love it. No
need to cobble up cooling air as the SL40 is essentially a box full of air. The Kings sometimes need the air, depending on the installation. All of the SL40s features and settings are accessed using the buttons on the front panel. Dont know much about the Icom, but if it is anything like the ham radios they make I wouldnt hesitate to buy one. Narco? Get serious.
