Im considering opening a Pilot Supply store at a pretty busy class D =
airport that lacks such a business now. It would be situated right next =
to the FBO (that receives a lot of jet and twin charters) and 2 flight =
schools. The lease on the property is pretty low, too. So, I envision =
a lot of walk-in traffic.

What I need from anyone here who has been in such business is =
recommendations on getting started. Where can I get my inventory? What =
wholesalers are out there that I can get the majority of the products =
from rather than working out re-seller agreements with a bunch of =
different manufacturers?

I would expect to sell all the common supplies, like charts, =
ASA/Gleim/etc. literature, magazines, aviation books, airplane =
supplies(like fuel strainers and accessories - not aircraft parts). =
Also the popular headsets, hand-helds, etc. I would go through the =
Sportys catalog to see what products would seem to fit well in a shop =
like this, too.

But if you have other ideas on what you seek at pilot supply stores and =
dont easily find, please let me know too!

All comments welcome.
