Things are going to be hopping in the Mid-Willamette Valley this coming
weekend, September 16 and 17. The Oregon Air Fair will be going on both
days, at the Linn County Fair & Expo Center adjacent to Albany Airport
(S12). This was formerly held at the Portland Convention Center. This
time, you can FLY IN or drive in (exit 234 from I-5). For more info:
http://www.aviation.state.or.us/ Lots of guest speakers, safety and
maintenance seminars, and aviation vendors. Oh, and free admission.

Also, on Saturday morning, the Spruce Goose is scheduled to begin its move
from temporary shelters of the past few years at McMinnville Airport (MMV),
to its new permanent home across the highway. For more info:

Both of these events are a nice short cross-country flight away from the
recently re-opened and newly paved Independence State Airport (7S5), home of
EAA Chapter 292 and the Noon Patrol: http://www.teleport.com/~medlock/
The #1 Nieuport fuselage is scheduled to be on display at the Oregon Air
Fair (all 14 fuselages have now been assembled). Someone may even be
slaving away in the shop while everyone else is having fun in Albany. Drop
in and take a look.

The weather in western Oregon has been absolutely beautiful the past couple
of days. Will it hold for the weekend? We sure hope so!
