One more correction, its 102.5" driven by a Diamond Mfg. #35 solid-link
chain... NOT a bicycle chain. Average RPM was 330. Max .h.p. was 16 at startup, 11.5 at takeoff, and 8.5 when warm (which for this engine means glowing red cylinder heads). Prop efficiency was recently tested by Ken Hyde et. al. at The WrightExperience.com and measured at somewhere between 80 and 85%. check the website for the actual figures. STILL, pretty damn good for the first true set of aircraft props. Harry "resident Wright Bros geek" Frey wright1902glider@aol.com http://hometown.aol.com/wright1902glider/Wright1902.html |
