Second hand:

Got the nickle tour of a Rans S12 being used as a trainer a few
years back. The BFI showed me his prop balancer and told me
of having a part depart his engine and take a chunk out of his
prop. It set up a terrific vibration but by the time he got his
hand to the throttle it had settled out and he was able to return
to his home field. Told me there would always be one on any
plane he owned. When he sold the Rans and bought a Titan
Tornado he kept the balancer. He carried it with him to the
Titan factory and had it installed before he flew his new plane
home.
