Jeff >How do you detect an air leak on a 447 Rotax? In short, I have an >engine thats running too hot and Ive ruled out everything except >timing and an air leak. Ive heard (or seen), never used these: While running use carb cleaner and spray on sealing surfaces (intake manifold, case halves, seals) to see if the RPM changes. While static - use bike inner tube and cut sealing gaskets for the intake and exhaust manifold. Place these sealers between the block and manifold and tighten the manifolds down. Now that the case is sealed - open a plug hole (make an adapter with an old, gutted out plug) you can pressurize (dont go crazy) or pull a vacuum on. See if it will hold the pressure / vac. If pressurized - spray a soap solution on the seal areas and look for air bubbles. |
