I too am working on an electronic project that uses the Compaq Ipac for data
acquisition and display. One beauty of this approach is the collected data
can then be uploaded to desktop dynamometer software for analysis, another
is that it can be adapted for use on any motor. Soon Bluetooth will enable
land locked servers to record and displaying the telemetry in real time. Im
currently designing around the AMD9240 IC : )

Ross, could you suggest other ICs that might be better suited for this
project, I want to incorporate a USB hub and USB connectors for the sensors.

What do you think of this idea? If you are interested in this project I can
provide you with all the development documents from Compaq including
schematics, Pin out, CAD drawing etc, also ActiveX meter and gauge controls
for the for PocketPCs are under development.
