I just purchased a Motorola FRS radio with built-in altimeter, barometer,
stopwatch, thermometer, digital compass, etc, for $120 (with NiMH recharge batt pack) at www.botachtactical.com . It shows altitude in 20 increments, and you can clear it to 0 on the runway if you wish to know agl instead of barometric-adjusted altitude. In case you decide to get the wrist style Suunto watches, the folks at botachtactical.com have it for the cheapest price in the US, $144 for the basic version. Thats about $40-$50 cheaper than all others. I use my FRS radio for in-flight comm anyways, so getting a complete package at such a killer price was the best route for me...
