I dont know if year model ever made a difference. I used to have both, and
the only difference on mine was the bore.

Pistons and cylinders from the 440 liquid cooled, 440 air cooled and 340 air
cooled would all interchange. Electric starter mounting was the same because
the whole bottom end was the same.

The air cooled parts would not interchange between the 340 and 440, but that
was just differences in the shrouding to facilitate minor differences in the
external design of the air cooled cylinders. Might have been a slight
difference on the cooling fans too, but I dont recall for sure. YMMV.
